Job Description:

 

The Product Control Analyst will support the trading and finance teams with the daily P&L tracking. This role is responsible for managing data from our trading systems and helping compile finance reports for our accounting and finance teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Understand/perform daily P&L production and reporting for commodity trading books and structured deals, focusing on Power, Gas, and Environmental Products.
  • Resolve any queries from traders or other departments relating to P&L as well as provide analysis and commentary.
  • Create/Maintain daily balancing dashboard and work with commercial team to resolve discrepancies resulting from intercompany activity.
  • Provide/maintain commentary for trading margin analysis for monthly and yearly performance (unrealized vs realized).
  • Assist with monthly liquidity reserves for all commodities (Gas, Power, Environmental Products, Refined Products, NGLs, and Options) and provide commentary.
  • Responsible for managing TPM workflows generated by the ETRM. Assist in enhancing existing processes and developing new procedures in order to improve the efficiency of P&L production and to tighten controls.
  • Understand/perform independent price validation on the various commodities. Perform analysis, create and present presentations monthly to the curve committee.
  • Provide additional ad hoc reporting as required.
  • Perform/maintain the applicable controls and monthly close activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Computer Science.
  • A minimum 1 year’s experience in Product Control/Risk Management within energy trading or financial services, internship experience included.
  • High degree of skill in Excel.
  • Programming and coding knowledge highly preferred.
  • Experience creating reports in a viewer such as Power BI or Tableau is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Commodities/Energy.
  • Ability to work under pressure without compromising the quality of deliverables.
  • Good understanding of business processes and data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic and able to respond to changes in priorities.
